How do you choose the best hotel in Paris? I always base my hotel picks on location, neighborhood and safety. As woman and usually traveling with my family, it is imperative that I feel like I am able to walk around the neighborhood, after all it is a major European city. It is important to strategize about the types of activities that you will be doing during your stay and plan accordingly. Will you visit museums, enjoy the gourmet food and wine or take in the French countryside? These are all considerations when planning your stay. I love hotels that have some French flavor and Old World Charm. Another good option is to rent an apartment or stay at a gîte (small family run holiday accommodation). I would also advise to know the personality of the arrondissement and not simply book by price as each one has its own unique flair and nuances. I always stay in the Latin Quarter (5th) or St. Germain des Prés (6th), they are both centrally located, close to the Luxembourg Gardens and full of fantastic architecture.
